For sale is my 1971 VH 770 charger, Alpine white, factory 318/904. I have owned the car for six years and have treated it very well, sparing no expense on it to keep it running and in good condition. This is a regretful sale. If it does not reach the right price, the car will not be sold – simple as that! I’ll try my best to go through the major work I’ve carried out on this excellent car, but please feel free to contact me if you wish to discuss anything further. No time wasters please; life is too short.

contacting me is best done by email and we can take it from there - i dont want to spend hours talking on the phone all day. i can also email many more photos.

Driveline
The 318 v8 was fully rebuilt roughly 10,000km ago and will easily fry tyres all day long. Before you ask, no I have not had it on a dyno:
- 0.030” overbore and hone, decks surfaced 10 thou
- crank linished (10 under)
- rods checked, closed/honed, ARP fasteners
- KB399 high compression hypereutectic pistons (11:1 compression with zero deck clearance)
- high volume melling oil pump
- standard sump
- comp cams solid camshaft, 520/540 lift (250@50) dialed in at 106 intake centreline
- yella terra roller rockers
- dual row timing chain
- high volume 8 blade water pump
- standard pulleys, 55A alternator
- ported J heads with oversized ferrea valves
- Edelbrock airgap intake manifold
- 700dp Holley (4778)
- full MSD ignition (6AL, billet distributor, MSD 8.5mm leads)
- custom aluminium radiator with custom fan shroud fitted with 16” zirgo electric fan and thermoswitch
- 600cca battery
The transmission is an A-904 which I have fitted with a B&M stage 2 shift kit and a 3000rpm dominator stall converter. There is a remote trans cooler (stacked plate B&M) mounted infront of the radiator with braided hoses connecting it to the case. There is a deep trans pan (MP) fitted with a smiths oil temperature gauge (mounted under the dash).
The exhaust is a twin 2.5” mandrel bent system and sounds great. It has an exhaust bung welded in and plugged for an AFR (O2) tuning device. The differential is a standard borg warner 78 fitted with 3.23 gears (non LSD).

Underside
The front suspension has been fully rebuilt in 2009 with POR15 rust preventative paint and is in great overall condition, providing good road feel and steering. All four monroeGT shocks are 12 months old, the power steering works flawlessly with no leaks or noises and the rear springs have been untouched in the past 6 years – in good condition. The front tyres have 95% tread and the rear tyres pass rego with no problems (about 75% tread). A wheel alignment was performed 12 months ago and it does drive very well on the road.

Paint & Body
The body was repainted (bare metal respray in two pack) in 2008 and is of exceptional quality. There are four spots on the entire car that are showing some rust deterioration, but the rest of the car is perfect. For interstate bidders I do of course have a number of photos to illustrate these areas. They certainly are not significant and would require only $100-300 each per repair if they were to be done by a professional. Apart from these four spots (rear right ducktail, rear left quarter, right lower front door skin, left lower rear door jamb) the finish is perfect and looks exceptional (factory original alpine white in colour).

Interior
The factory black vinyl interior is complete and in perfect condition. No tears anywhere except a one inch length tear on the driver’s side door panel, above the arm-rest (not noticible). Front and rear seats are perfect, the headliner is perfect. Carpet is about a year old and in excellent condition (underneath the carpet I have fitted dynamat and dynaliner to help insulate sound and heat). CD player is installed with two 6” speakers mounted in the kickpanels. I don’t know what else to say here; the interior is immaculate and certainly compliments the rest of the car perfectly. Sitting inside this car is an experience in itself.

Boot
The boot floor has been painted in POR15 rust preventative paint and is not rusted. There has also been some tasteful/minimal upholstery done in the boot to tidy things up with black carpet/MDF panels, it looks very neat and professional without being overdone or tacky. The spare tyre is mounted in the boot under a black vinyl tyre cover.

I’m sure I’ve forgotten many things. This is just an outline of what is an exceptional car. It has full NSW registration until SEP-10, and as I said before, if I do not get the right price the car will not be sold – it is regrettable that it is even on the market at all. So if you know what you’re doing, you’ll know that this sale is only available for a very short time, and if you let it slip you by it is likely that this car may never come up for sale again.
I recommend and welcome inspections of the car by interested, serious bidders. Please do not waste my time if you do not intend to buy the car for what it is worth/want it but dont have the money. No test drives will be allowed but I can take you for a spin in the car during your inspection if you’d like. Of course I am happy to facilitate any interstate buyers with transport of the vehicle after payment is received in full. Please arrange your own transport company if you are an interstate buyer.
