Living in The West Wimmera of Victoria. I still have my Phoenix and CM. The race Scorpion has been sold :(

BACK ON THE TRACK!!!!
The Scorpion is painted. Just thinking on a graphic scheme now...hmmm...I will post up pics later...
I have been competing lately (not as much) in a Datto 1200cc UTE!!! LMAO...goes well and turns easier than the Scorp.
The CM is still cruising along and the Phoenix is off the road (again) for further work... it's a never ending story!!
|
I have been off line a fair bit with other things i gotta do in life but here's an update on my cars...
Firstly the CM has now got 15x7 hurricanes on it. I have also added a sports steering wheel, new moulded carpet and mopar mats...hee hee...also girlafied it with flowery stickers...lol...
The Phoenix is still waiting for its turn in the garage. I am in no hurry but would like it finished for COTM 2008!!
The Scorpion is sitting on the trailer looking worse for wear, needs some work and tidying up before I do any more motor sport.

Just got me a 1979 CM sedan. It's russet red with creme interior (oh gosh, the dogs will soon muddy that up! lol)... It's an auto with a 318 and duel fuel.
Will be used as daily driver, tow car and some playing in the dirt...hee hee...pics to come :)
UPDATE!!! Here's the pics...
UPDATE UPDATE!!! I found out the CM is a k14 and was an ex-South Australian cop car. I also tracked down where it came from before the car dealership I bought it from. It was at another dealership here in Melbourne and belonged to an old couple who traded it in...that's as far as I have got so far!
I have added some more pics of me motorkhanaing it at Moorabbin Airport on Dec 2nd...enjoy!

This is my 1966 Phoenix. It's a 318 and a big slug! I drive her everyday and use her for towing. I swapped it for my VH base model Charger back in 1997. The first time i saw this car i fell in love. I have had numerous problems with it over the years but wouldnt part with it. It had a vinyl roof when i first got it which we removed almost straight away as rust was beginning under it. The bright orange engine is the present one in it now. Unfortantley it's not that clean anymore! Pic was taken 7 years ago or more.
It was off the road for a while when i was having some body work done. I had rust cut out and pieces welded back in place. There's still a stack to do to it but it will take time.
I have competed in it a couple of times in motorkhana events. In 2005 I won my class in it against a "special" built fwd buggy. I had the advantage as I had a huge handicap factor being a longer car. Also a few years ago the Phoenix won "Drive-In Choice" at a VSMA Drive-In nite against a stack of Holdens and Fords. I was very suprized!! :)

more pics of the Dodge in action and at sleep

Here are some various pics I have got my hands onto in the last week. Shots of the Dodge and Scorpion at Werribee motorkhana ground.
|
First pic is of my dad's VE back in the 70s. I am sitting on the right of the bonnet :)). The pic was taken after the West gate Bridge collapse (2nd time). Second pic is of my Centura I had back in 1996. It was a big ugly thing but it was the most reliable car i had ever owned! It was a 245 with an auto. I sold it to a young guy who was frequently seen going sideways around round a bouts...lol...
The blue Charger was my base model VH. I bought it from Noble Car Sales in Noble Park (Cheltenham Road) in March 1995. The dealer tried his hardest to sell me a Ford Lazer to start with but i stuck to my guns and bought the Charger. She was a 2 owner, belonging to an old guy for most of her life. Later on down the track I met his grandson at Picnic At Hanging rock event who wanted to buy the car back from me :). But i kept it.
The car had no rust and was very straight. The blue paintwork was faded but i planned to have it resprayed. It had blue vinyl flooring and was a 215, three on the tree. Much to my disgust my BF at the time decided to modify it with a 265 , 3 on the floor. I had no say in it even though i payed for the darn thing...lol... ;) I liked it original :)..
We prepared the Charger for respray and for the time being sprayed it matt black. A friend popped in and thought it would be fun to add an orange RT stripe...It looked good I must admit :)
A few years after i got it some young guys T boned me on South Gippsland Hwy in a Hyundi POS...the damage to the Charger was bad with a caved in drivers side door and quarter panel. :( The whole quarter had to be cut out and replaced and i got another door. The car was never really the same after that. I lent it to my BF after it was fixed and unfortantley he parked it at work one day and a lady in a sigma lost control and smashed into the front end of it. NRMA payed me out after writing the car off and sold it back to me for $300 (i think) and once again it was fixed :).
Second last pic is of the Charger after it was sprayed black with orange stripes :)
When i split with my BF we swapped cars...he really wanted the Charger and i wanted the Phoenix, i thought it was a fair deal and we all lived happily ever after :)) lol
PS: The yellow Charger was my ex's...yes he was who started my love of Mopars after being a Rotary girl for years and years..LMAO!!!
The Black Charger is the autocross Charger we had. I am driving it at Boisdale.

MY SCORPION I bought my 1980 Chrysler Scorpion in 2002 from a friend who was building a VG Pacer hardtop for autocross. My Scorpion is a standard 2.6 with a 5 speed and locked diff. The front end has been modified for better steering around corners. The car is a handfull on the track and very loose in the rear end but still competitive in its class.
I have won many open classes in this Scorpion in both motorkhana and autocross.
A couple of years ago I had the pleasure of showing off my motorkhana skills on the Channel 31 show "IN PIT LANE", my Scorpion was up against an SS Holden Ute, and i can proudly say i kicked its bum...lol :))
I compete reguarly at Geelong Motor Sports Complex at Avalon in their khanacross series. Other tracks I have run at are: Bagshot, Boisdale, Alexandra (speedway), Rockbank, Shepparton and a few times at Morwell Hill Climb (sealed surface)
The pics are of me racing at Avalon and Pakenham
WHAT IS AUTOCROSS? An autocross is a speed event incorporating timed laps around an unsealed track. An autocross is bigger than a motorkhana (up to 2 kilometres) which allows higher speeds. However like a motorkhana, drivers can be as young as 14 years. A 'speed' category CAMS license is required however.
Competitors are given a few laps each turn, with sometimes a few cars on the track at any one time. Multiple cars are spaced apart from each other, as an autocross is not considered a "race" type event. Competition is against the clock.
The tracks themselves are often a permanent setup and well looked after. This means they are generally smoother than a rally which uses common roads with all kinds of surfaces. The smooth nature allows drivers to fine tune their car control skills with a certain degree of speed.
Again, all competing cars must pass scrutineering before competing. Basic safety items for cars are required (secondary bonnet catch, etc) And, because it is a speed event drivers must wear an approved helmet.
WHAT IS MOTORKHANA? Motorkhana's are a fun, safe way of getting involved in motorsport. Conducted on a variety of surfaces, they develop a range of car control skills.
A motorkhana is a series of tests, each test involves navigating through a variety of courses marked out by flags. The test is against the clock, and knocking a flag over incurs a time penalty.
Each test is typically very small, and it is rare to get out of first gear (except for tests involving reversing!). The course is flat, with nothing to run into except the flags, hence motorkhanas are extremely safe. Because of the safety aspect, the minimum age of drivers is 12 years. This allows children to learn basic car skills in a safe, controlled environment.
Any car can be used in a motorkhana, smaller ones are preferable though as some turns can be very tight.

well finally after a couple of years the Scorpion is back and ready to go. It has had a respray and new graphics applied. It now has a lightened flywheel and heavy duty clutch. It stills wants to go sideways :P hee hee!!! I had a stack of fun in it at a recent autocross at Ballarat Light Car Club!!
Check out pics I put on Facebook!!
